Andrew Badenoch

Bio: Andrew moved aboard a sailboat in 2008 after dropping out of the corporate world. Though forged in the Pacific Northwest (Anchorage, Alaska; Seattle, Washington; Portland, Bend, et cetera, Oregon) of the United States of America, I’ve also lived in Austin, Texas and Panama City, Panama.

Professional: At this point, I am dedicated to adventure, exploration, and science advocacy full-time. This effort is partially supported by my writing. Not that it matters for our purposes here, but my formal education is in Multimedia and International Business. My work experience is mostly of the entrepreneurial variety in the realms of finance and marketing.

Politics: “My country is the world and my religion is to do good.” - Thomas Paine

Meta-Philosophy: To my mind, it is impossible to achieve maximum wellbeing within the world of alarm clocks, architecture, and subjugation to emergent institutions. I don’t think this is merely a coincidence or vague yearning, but a very real facet of human nature. This insight and inspiration is drawn from the archaeological and anthropological record of our hunter-gatherer ancestors. The life prescribed by sociocultural institutions will not provide the freedom it promises. In other other words, Go outside and play! And… maybe you should just keep doing that over and over… or even better…. just start playing and never stop.

*According to my Pacific Northwest U.S. English – Scottish dictionary, Badenoch is pronounced like bad-in-ock not bade-en-ock. Or… just slur it all together like you’re saying bad-knock.
